Ridge United Methodist Church

Our ministries offer a welcoming community where your gifts, passions, and experiences can be used to serve God and support one another. Chancel Choir

Chancel Choir meets and rehearses on Thursdays from 3:15pm to 4:30pm
Rock Solid - Praise Band
Our contemporary praise band practices Sunday afternoons from 11:30am to 1:30pm and is open to one and all. Please see or email our Music Director for further details.
Project Love - Food Pantry Support
For Mission Sunday, the first Sunday of the month, our congregation collects many food items for distribution at local food pantries such as the Food Pantry of Cedar Lake, Indiana.
Foodbank of Northwest IN Sorting and Packing
We organize groups of volunteers to help at the Foodbank to sort and pack boxes of food for distribution. This ministry meets monthly at the Foodbank of NWI in Merrillville to ready boxes of food for various distribution sites.
Mobile Market
Our congregation and community volunteers support the Mobile Market by Foodbank of Northwest Indiana by distributing food to deserving families on a quarterly basis. Ridge UMC’s parking lot is the distribution site.
Bridging Hunger Food Pantry
Coming soon in August 2026, Ridge UMC is moving forward with planning an onsite food locker to help our community with food necessities. Stay tuned for details.
Hammond City Rescue Mission
We organize groups of volunteers to serve a meal to the homeless every other Saturday at the City Rescue mission located on State Street in Hammond. For more information, contact Kathy Giannini for helping serve in this ministry.
Dare 2 Care
Everyone is invited to join the Dare to Care ministry team on Tuesdays at 11:30am. We meet in room 202 to write cards to members that may be ill or homebound, need encouragement, well wishes, congratulations or to just know that we miss them and if there is anything they need. For more information, contact Diane Comandella for helping serve in this ministry.
Tech Team
Ridge UMC has a robust offering of technology services which we ask laity to participate in worship services. Our TECH TEAM performs the following functions supporting worship: Slide preparation, Worship Slide presentation, microphone setup, soundboard, camera operation, live streaming, PC and MAC programming, server, wifi, website programming, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIN and more… For more information, contact Dan Zilai at (219) 838-4770 Ext 12 for opportunities at Ridge.
Greeters
- Greeters make the first connection at the door, answers questions and directs visitors and members to the Sanctuary, restrooms, nursery, coat room, etc.

Ushers
- Ushers assist the visitor or member inside the Sanctuary (if necessary), distribute the bulletins, count attendance and pass the offering plate.

Liturgists
- Liturgists recite the Call to Worship, read an offertory prayer, and present the selected Scripture to the congregation.

Communion Delivery
- Communion Delivery Stewards take communion to shut-ins, people that live a distance from the church or folks that are unable to get to the church on a regular basis.
