Blessed To Be Warm
– Ponderings:

Before anything else, I want to thank all who commented on yesterday’s post. I read each one and ended the day feeling truly blessed. I felt your prayers, your support, and your love. On a very cold day, you warmed my heart.
In days of extreme cold, it’s also good to pause and reflect on how blessed we are to be warm. I have a house and a car with heat (and my car has autostart and heated seats!). I may not have located my winter coat yet – a long story – but I’m never outside for long.
On a cold winter day, there’s nothing quite like stepping into a warm home, wrapping up in a cozy blanket, and sipping a hot cup of tea. I did that last night after getting home from Bible study. The contrast between the biting wind outside when I walked out of the church and the comfort inside my house reminded me again of how blessed I am. Yet, how often do we stop and truly give thanks for something as simple as warmth?
The warmth of our homes is a physical blessing, but it also points to a deeper truthโGod’s care for us. Our physical needs are important, but God surrounds us with love and grace, providing warmth for our souls even in life’s coldest seasons. When we experience hardship, loneliness, or spiritual dryness, God offers us his presence as our refuge. He wraps us in the warmth of his promises, just as a fire warms a home. His Word becomes our shelter, reminding us that no storm is too great for his sustaining love.
As we enjoy the comfort of warmth on a cold day, let it be a moment of gratitude. Letโs remember those who lack this blessing and seek ways to extend warmthโphysically and spirituallyโto others. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a tangible act of service such as giving someone a pair of gloves or a coat, we can share the love of Christ and be his warmth in a cold world.
How can you be a source of warmth and comfort to others (as you were to me yesterday)?
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the gift of warmth on cold days and the many ways you care for us. Help me not take these blessings for granted, and stir my heart to share warmth with those in need, whether their need is physical, emotional, or spiritual. May I reflect your love and care for all your creation in this wonderful and diverse world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
